There was a 50 Best Rappers of all time list that came out on Monday. It got everyone confused, angry……………………… Mostly confused! Whoever wrote this was obviously trolling everyone on Twitter just for fun. If this person was serious though, let’s look at 10 things that make this list total garbage.
10. Lupe Fiasco Just Cracking the Top 20
It depends on what you think of Lupe, but there is a case for him whether he made the Top 20 or not. He could be a little higher because of his flow, his political views, his growth as a lyricist through the years, and being the pioneer of the conscious hip-hop movement. At the same time, there is an argument that he shouldn’t be higher than Ice Cube, Snoop, and Jeezy. Yes his impact of the genre is big, but it’s not as big as those artists. So it’s a toss up.
9. Slick Rick, NOT ON THE LIST!
How do you have a best rappers of all time list and not include the best storytellers in rap. Slick Rick’s songs have been sampled over 600 times. He is more than just a rapper, he’s a narrator in life. He pays attention to the little but impactful details. Every lyric is perfect as it gets and he has influenced rappers like Eminem and Kanye. So this is a crime not only against rap, but against humanity.
8. How Do You Determine A List Like This?
No seriously, how? What factors were you putting in place? You should look at the list through there discography, influence, accolades, records, flow, lyrics, etc.. You can’t just pick 50 names out of hat like that
7. Lil Wayne is on This List
Look, Lil Wayne is good. His discography is memorable and his fan base is leaps and bounds over a lot of the rappers on this list. The quality of his music has gotten worse and worse with each and every album. The lyrics aren’t there, he has become kind of a comedy act. You can’t argue with results like this. Lil Wayne don’t need a list like this, it’s most likely that a legitimate list will come, and he might be on it.
6. Andre 3000 over Big Boi
How does this make sense? Big Boi is obviously a better rapper than Andre 3000. Together they’re perfect, but apart Big Boi wins because fo his flow, his creativity, and his ability to get the best rappers on his albums. Andre 3000, (No offense), should not be on this list. His only qualifiable song was, “Hey Ya,” and that’s really classified as a pop song. Hell should Big Boi even be on this list?
5. Lloyd Banks is on the List!
Lloyd Banks does not belong on this list. Plain and simple. Lloyd Banks, who has two memorable songs. Lloyd Banks the least memorable member of G-Unit. Look Lloyd Banks is a great mixtape artist, there is no doubt, but there were a lot of artists left that deserve to be on the list for more reasons then Lloyd Banks can give.
4. Ice Cube and Eminem Not in the Top 20!
This is dumb. Are you really telling people that Eminem and Ice Cube don’t belong in the Top 20. Ice Cube, one of the founding artists of gangsta rap, and Eminem one of the selling artists of all time. This is a middle finger to both of these artists.
3. No Female Rappers
Missy Elliot, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Lil Kim, Remy Ma, Da Brat, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte. These are the names that didn’t make it, but should have! There’s no excuse for this. It seems that whoever wrote this either forgot about these women, or is just sexist, you’re choice.
2. Biggie and Tupac not in the Top 3
There is no excuse for this. These two are the biggest rappers ever and somehow they don’t crack the Top 3. Biggie didn’t make the Top 5, Tupac wasn’t in the Top 10. Nas is one of the greats, but not when these two existed, and Jay-Z is the best writers, but should not be #1. Let’s do this real quick before #1, the Top 5 best rappers:
- Tupac
- Biggie
- Jay-Z
- Nas
- Rakim
1. Joe Budden is #3
Well at we least we know who wrote the list now. This list is the biggest waste of time this year. It felt useless, writing this felt pointless. This was content gold though, so thank you! I love to hear your opinions, comment when your not living your best life!
